Marks

The Marks Unit mainly treats shoeprints and toolmarks. Under ideal conditions, the tiniest shoe sole fragments can lead to the identification of the shoe which left the mark. When screwdrivers, crowbars and wrenches are employed outside of their intended purposes, an analysis of the resulting impressions and scratches can lead to a tool type or even the specific tool itself.
